Becoming an architect requires a good deal of training.
If you would like to practice architecture in the United States most states
require a five year training program to be
completed. However, most people
don't just jump into architecture right after high school. Architecture is not
often discussed as a possible career choice n high school
and many teenagers
don't consider it when thinking of their future.
Some people want to do something creative after working in their chosen
profession for some time. For example an engineer after working for few years as
a civil engineer may
desire to do something creative. You can also divert
from your present education after verifying the individual requirement of
various schools. It is advisable to consult your counsellor.
After you've finished the architecture training, you must sit for a series of
eight architect specific exams that are known as the Architectural Registration
Examination. These
exams must all be completed and passed with a
minimum of eight years experience is required to become a licensed
architect.
These requirements are only for potential licensed architects in the United
States and every country has their own regulations that must be followed. In
each country there is also typically a governing board that gives their members
support and keeps them up to date on current events relating to the field of
architecture.
Life as an architect can be very rewarding and satisfying, but like any other
job it has its share of difficult times. Someone who is unsure about his or her
career should not choose architecture. This profession requires a lot of
dedication and ward work.
There are many areas of architecture that you can choose from. You may want
to experiment with a few before settling down for one. You may like to join a
firm that specialises in high-rise construction in the city or you may
be
interested in designing and building unique houses. The options are
plenty.
Many architects are involved in non-profit organizations that work towards
making cities more livable and finding creative ways to use indigenous materials
for safe housing.
Many architects find this a satisfying way to give back to
the community.
Becoming an architect may not be the first career choice for kids graduating
from school but once in the workforce many people realize that architecture can
be an interesting and rewarding career. Architecture is a unique way to
combine an interest in arts and the sciences. As anarchitect, you get an
